Wine Review: Leon Perdigal Côtes du Rhône Rosé 2019

Quick facts:

- Grenache and Cinsault grape varieties

- Dry, easy drinking, Provence style

- £9.99 from Majestic Wines

I have been on a mission this year to find some interesting rosés that stand apart from their fashionable Côtes de Provence cousins. In choosing this Leon Perdigal Côtes du Rhône Rosé 2019, I took a bit of a detour from that mission! But, despite the over-consistency of their wine, Côtes de Provence do tend to make very ‘gluggable’ goodies – and that was certainly similar with this Côtes du Rhône rosé. If you’re looking for a glass to sip in the sun, then this is a great, easy option that won't break the bank. A fruit-forward wine, it is refreshing and boasts aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, watermelon, slate and a salty minerality on the finish. Although great to drink on its own, it would also pair nicely with smoked salmon or salted cashew nuts as nibbles. Great for this summer weather!
